Pen and ink drawing of George Washington as he appeared in September 1780 by James Maury. With the drawing is a provenance note, 1913 January 30, by H. Lowndes Maury, stating that the drawing was done by Maury late in life from memory on a leaf from Montesquieu's "Spirit of the laws."
